“A day made of rainbows, Skittles, and pure awesomeness!!”
The above is how my friend Cindy described my day.
I thought it was hilarious, and pretty much true.
This morning I took a job in San Francisco!
I start on Monday!
BOOYAH!
It’s been a good day, I tell you!

Updates, shmupdates.
I usually don’t cross-post my blogs, but here’s my blog that I posted up earlier on myspace, with a couple extra sentences here and there.
I actually don’t have any huge, super important updates to share.
Like today, I FINALLY cleared off my desk, emptied out the purse I took with me to X-Fest, and moved some books over my dvds, and it oddly opened up some space.
I also went through a pile of papers and separated things that need to be shredded, like bank statements that I never open, cause I check all my ish online.
On Saturday, I got to check off another state that I have now visited, being Oregon. Nothing really exciting happened there. Although, to and from, I had a couple near-death experiences, due to my aunt driving half-asleep. (Yes, we had to pull over and sleep for like an hour.)
John moved.
( Big ol’ fat BOO to that.
I saw “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2″ the day it came out. I still have mad love for books turned into movies, although, bad move shoving three books into one movie.
I made brunch this morning. Homefries, with red onion, green bell pepper, ham, bacon, shred cheese and an over easy egg to top it off. BOOYAH!
I watched Michael Phelps kick some boo-tay in his race this morning.
And some idiot over at American Idol told Michael Johns and David Cook that they can’t dance during the closing number of the Idols LIVE! concerts anymore.
Just, don’t get me started.
It’s better that way. TRUST ME.
Lets see…anything else?
*looks around room*
If you get a chance to watch the documentary, “The Bridge”, DO IT.
It will make you look at life so much differently. It will also make you think about the things in your life, that seriously, probably are not all that bad. Or not as bad.
On my to buy immediately list: Nip/Tuck season 3. What was I thinking last summer when it was $15, and I opted to not buy it?
I just finished season 2 the other night again, and I really want to watch season 3. Maybe, I’ll just go rent it. IDEA.
Ooh. And I turn 26 next month.
And, I’m not really panicked about it.
Go team!
Oh. This picture of David Cook is uber hot.

And today would be the 10 year anniversary of when I first saw the Backstreet Boys live in Concord, CA on August 11, 1998.
HOLY CRAP.
*I totally just called my dad and quizzed him about where he and I were at 10 years ago, and he goes, let me think…Backstreet Boys?
My dad makes me so proud.
)
Oh! I have a job prospect! I talked to the lady that sounds like she wants to hire me today, and she’s having trouble getting a hold of my references. NO BUENO. So, hopefully as soon as that action happens, I will have a lovely job in San Francisco.
H to the OLLA.
The writing is still happening. I think I know why I prefer to sit down with a notebook over sitting at the computer, it could be because more writing actually takes place when there are not any temptations to sit and watch youtube.com, go on myspace, or blog.
Yay to attempting to write out all my essays.
Oh goodness.
That’s all!

Writing the day away.
I got hit with the inspiration to write today while shampooing my hair this morning.
NO JOKE.
All of a sudden I could see opening sentences to my introduction essay, and then I was seeing an opening sentence to my essay on American Idol.
It’s like I was having a writing premonition, but I had errands to run, so I jotted down a couple notes, then went about my business.
I got through my introduction essay earlier tonight. Right now I am working on an essay entitled, “American Idol Stole My Life…Again!” Basically my ode to AI. And small odes to Clay Aiken, Blake Lewis and David Cook.
Speaking of Blake Lewis. It only took a year, but I finally got the chance to meet him a couple weekends ago! He’s super nice and gracious. Probably one of the most down-to-earth “celebrities” I have ever met. He’s a cool dude.
Anyways, I was talking to my dad earlier this afternoon and he asked me about my plans, and I was like, “It’s a writing day. Inspiration hit, I have to write today.”
Seriously, when inspiration comes knocking, you answer the door.
I mean, even though, I spent some moments just watching the curser blink at me, I feel very accomplished.
Like a writer.

Why, hello there summer!
So, I’ve had an interesting summer so far.
I find myself once again in a very familiar position. One of being unemployed.
It happens.
We’ll talk about it in a few.
So, Sunday June 22nd, I went to San Francisco to see one of my very favorite bands play, LIFEHOUSE! It was a free concert being put on by Radio Alice 97.3, and it was a rockin’ good time.
And man, San Francisco is such a gorgeous city, I can only hope that my path in life leads me to spending a large amount of time there, because I absolutely love the atmosphere.
It was also around this time, that the time had come for me to make a decision. Which ended in me deciding that hocking clothes in a third-rate mall is not for me. So, my last day of work was July 2nd. Which was absolutely perfect, because I was leaving to Fresno the next day to being my “Cookie Tour ‘08″, which was actually me going to multiple American Idol shows this summer all in the name of one David Cook.
I’ll say this. I got to meet him, and he’s one of the most awesome human beings on the planet. Just so humble and gracious. Love it. I uploaded his set from the Fresno show in my little music box over yonder. Check it out. He’s got a great voice!
So, I spent a couple weeks going to Idol shows. Just three. LOL.
But, I did go home to San Jose for a handful of days, due to one of my shows being in San Jose, and I got to go to church with my dad. I haven’t been to church in such a long time. And then to top it off, one of my friends from high school was giving the sermon that morning. It was pretty cool.
I loved catching up with people that I had not seen in a very long time, it was very comforting to know that you truly can some home to people that care about you.
Family-wise, they’re…I really want to say okay. In fact, just for the sake that this is being written and published in a public forum, I will say that things are okay.
Everything could be better, you know? Who doesn’t want things in their world to be better?
So, plans for the rest of my summer…next weekend I am off to Modesto to do some promoting for Blake Lewis, who competed on American Idol season 6. I am quite stoked about this!
After that, I’m just going to keep plugging away to find a new job, not just out of necessity, something hopefully that I could see myself enjoying. For awhile anyways.
I am working on two projects as far as writing goes. I have a fiction novel that is currently on the back burner, due to my current project which is a book of essays, that are more pop-culture focused and personal to me, and how my life has been affected by things such as…90210, various music artists and a show called, “American Idol”. It’s shaping up to be fairly witty. So, I am really trying to throw everything I have into it.
But yeah, not much else up.
So, here’s to the rest of the summer being a joy!

Awake.
I am seriously in my bed typing this only because I have yet to fall asleep.
I am more than jealous of Priestley, who is curled up on my her Moshi pillow fast asleep.
I had decided to go to bed around midnight, and here I am up blogging about how I couldn’t get to sleep.
I watched a tape of David Cook American Idol performances up to Top 3 night. Still awake.
Went to the computer room to grab my lap top. Checked my email. Still awake.
Updated “Wait…What?” Still Awake.
Updated “HOC”. Still awake.
Caught up on the latest news from Perez. Still awake.
Can you sense a running theme?
All I want is sleep.
I want my eyes to close and not open until around 10, because that still leaves me plenty of time to get ready to go with my Nani to her weekly appointment.
But, here I am awake. With Jay Leno on mute. The chick from Juno is on. Ellen Page would be her name.
Why I know these things, no idea. Some details stick in my head more so than others.
I really want some sleep.
This lame change in temperature to like un-needed humidity at night is just…ugh.
This is not Fresno, this is the Bay Area. I did not expect this here.
It’s really hot. I have my ceiling fan practically at full speed. It’s not all the way on full speed, for fear that it may fly off my ceiling. I know, that sounds ridiculous, but that’s just how my brain functions.
I can hear the wind chimes outside, meaning it still must be sort of windy.
As I was driving home tonight, I rolled down the windows and just let the wind go through my hair as I blared music. Good times. And actually pretty exhilarating.
Anyhoo. I’m awake.
Just thought I’d share.
I am so tempted to take a dose of Nyquil, but I fear that it wouldn’t fair well with a beverage I had 4-5 hours ago.
Not in the mood to chance my health, I just want some sleep.
Here’s to hoping I find my way to sleepy land soon.
Peace out.

“Have a good one!”
So, I was watching “Ellen” the other night, well, I taped it to watch some Idol contestants that I enjoyed from this season perform on the show, but anyways, watching “Ellen” and Ellen talked about how she was in Chicago and how she notices that everyone says, “Have a good one!” and that she doesn’t know what it means.
And then I noticed the other day at work, that I say “Have a good one!” to my customers ALL THE TIME.
Random.
I’m not sure when I stopped saying “Have a good day/afternoon/night”.
Probably decided to mix it up one day.
Or it could because, around 5 in the p.m., what do you say? Do you say “Have a good night?” or “Have a good afternoon?”
I don’t know.
I just thought it was funny.

It’s not everyday I get inspired by Oprah.
Okay, not by Oprah, but by one of her guests.
And you’re gonna laugh.
So, the cast of Sex And The City: The Movie were on, and the chick that plays Charlotte (her name is Kristin…something, I’m so lost on her last name, anyhoo…)
She said something along the lines of when you’re in your twenties, you aren’t supposed to have everything figured out, and know who you are, this should be the time to figure out who you are.
Honestly, it’s been one of the most comforting things I have heard in a while.

Outlining.
So, in school (HS and college) there was something that some professors loved to do called, “outlining”.
As in outline this chapter in this book, outline this, outline that.
I am not a fan of outlining. Well, not normally.
I have been reading this book about getting through your first novel, and there was a chapter on outlining! Guess how excited I was?
NOT SO MUCH!
Well, I actually took what the book said to do to heart, and I ended up outlining the rest of my novel earlier this afternoon. Crazy, right?
I just wrote down what I wanted to happen to lead up to where my story needs to end to connect, and then all these ideas and details and pieces of dialogue started flowing.
Let me tell you, creativity is a wonderful thing.
I also wrote some more pages today, so today was extremely productive.
I guess outlining isn’t as awful as I thought it was in school.
After getting my thoughts on paper, I actually feel rather motivated.
GO TEAM!

A familiar song with a new twist.
Okay, so if you know me, you know that I am a fan of a little show called, “American Idol.”
I have tried for countless seasons to stop watching the show, because it seems to take me over a bit. I even got close during season 5. I didn’t watch hardly at all. That’s hardly the case now.
Anyways, during season 6, the show started releasing the studio recorded version of the songs the contestants perform on the show. Which is a great idea, and they have continued to to this through iTunes this year.
This past week was Mariah Carey night. And the absolutely talented rocker, David Cook performed, “Always Be My Baby”. I found out around 4 that afternoon what he was singing and I was so concerned, because in my head I could not hear an arrangement working with his voice.
All I have to say after his performance is “O ye of little faith.”
He was amazing.
And I wanted to share the studio version of his song, because I have not been able to stop listening to it.
It’s amazing take on the song.
I added a little music box over yonder —->
Give it a listen.
You won’t be disappointed.

The Friday Five on a Saturday.
1. Love at First Sight: Fact or Fiction?
Fiction. It should be called Lust at first sight.
2. Fortune Telling: Fact or Fiction?
Fiction. And lame.
3. Other Life: Fact or Fiction?
Possibly. Can’t say either way.
4. Afterlife: Fact or Fiction?
Fact. I think people do go on whether they go upstairs or downstairs.
5. Bigfoot: Fact or Fiction?
Fiction. Seriously?
